$13,788 for a brand new 2015 Jetta? Hell, I might have to get me one of these things if they’re being marked down so much.

I’m inclined to believe it’s true new jettas are all over the high school parking lot

Well, it’s a damn good deal. They’ve stepped up their interior game also.

For sale
2015 Jetta. Gray on Gray, 4 cyl with manual trans. Low mileage. Slightly garbage-trucked. That’s not overspray on the suspension parts, it’s “Speed Fleck”.
$13,788
To me, yes it’s low by $2500-$3k. Might be a great deal or somebody’s lemon.

They’re trying to build up their volume to gain ground on Toyota.
It’s an interesting play, making the cars as interesting as a Corolla but probably still as reliable as a Jetta.

They’re not bad cars for the money. My friend’s sister has a 2011 with the 2.0, so feel free to AMA.

Yes. It's been marked down a few grand. That is a bare minimum model, they list at about 17000.

Yup, they’re around $17,000 but there’s quite a few marked down ones on Cars.com right now.

Oooh good!
1. Is it manual?
2. How’s the acceleration/sounds?

I would contemplate one and I am no VW fan. at least it has a warranty, NP.

It is a stripper model and those can usually be found in the $15-16k range. They may be looking to get rid of this one or they may have advertised it with all the possible incentives and rebates added up which most buyers won’t qualify for.

Two - point - slowwww

It’s the 6-speed auto.
Acceleration is leisurely, and throttle response is on the slow side. It’s slightly less sprightly than my Dad’s Toyota Echo with the 4AT, simply because of throttle response. It sounds like any 20-year-old inline 4 - a bit noisy, a bit harsh, but not unacceptably so. The handling is fairly good, even with the torsion beam, and the ride is smooth, if firm. The trunk is huge, and there is tons of room inside. Steering is linear with nice gradual build-up of weight, and feel for a compact sedan. For $14k new, there’s not a whole lot wrong with it. I hope they upgraded the stereo, as the base one in the 11s is a bit tinny, and is prone to blowing speakers if used at high volume. Expect your usual VW product bulb replacements. Unfortunately, you have to have a specialty tool to change the oil, or so I hear.

The “Nigerian Prince” rebate?

They have a Golf sportwagen TDI for $22331 which seems like a good price too.

Cute comment. I drove a ‘13 Corolla S the other day, with a f#$%ing manual transmission, and I was truly underwhelmed. I own a ‘90 Corolla base model and it’s faster and more fun to drive.
I’ve also owned a number of Jettas and Rabbits, the most recent being an ‘84 turbodiesel. I like those, too.
But what, exactly are you saying? Or
not
saying? (I’m a little slow.)

I’d always take a VW over a Corolla. For interior quality alone, if nothing else.

That’s less than what I paid for my used ‘13 Jetta TDI. Though mines not the not the base model it has every option available.

Ah, nice. Which engine you got?
I’m thinking that it would be a nice economical car that’ll bridge me over to an S4 or 911. It’s also a new car for like $12,000 basically.

I have the 2.0 TDI engine, gets amazing fuel economy.
One weird thing that I just found out about the car is that U.S. Jetta’s only have the option of leatherette but Canadian models have the option of real leather.

Huh, interesting. I know that with my A4, all of the Canada models came standard with heated seats, so it may have something to do with that.

Some dealerships had the lease payment down to $39/month.

They are really giving it their all to be number one. They make 6/11 of the best selling cars of 2015 and I’m fairly sure they’re the worlds biggest car manufacturer.
I really do hope that they succeed, these prices are insanely low and the product that you’re getting is a hell of a car considering.

Yeah almost every new car with a heated seat option comes standard in Canada now. Probably because it’s a huge convenience for our harsh winters.

This price doesn’t seem weird to me at all. My local VW dealer has been listing base Jettas new for low 14s for over a year, and this isn’t much lower than that. It’s not hard to envision a dealer with a bunch of them on the lot lowering the price even farther to try to clear out the 2.slow models ahead of the 2016 models arriving on the lot.
Supposedly the 2016 base Jetta will replace the old 2.slow with the 1.4 TSI used as a base engine elsewhere in the world for years already, so it would make sense for dealers to try and get rid of the 2.slow models before they are on the lot next to vastly superior 2016 base Jettas with an actual modern engine.

... and I’d still try to haggle the price down. But it really is amazing how a $13k new car gets you power windows, power adjustable mirrors, Bluetooth, keyless entry, stability/traction control, and a tire pressure monitor, just to name a few. Technology really has come far, these all used to be options on cars.
